Kevin Stiner enters his fourth year at Washington University in St. Louis, while serving as an Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. Stiner is the primary media contact for cross country, volleyball, swimming & diving, women’s basketball, baseball, track and field and women’s golf.
All 12 sports covered by Stiner advanced to the NCAA Tournament during the 2018-19 season, highlighted by the 2018 Women's Cross Country National Championship. The women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams finished as the national runner-ups during both the winter and spring seasons. In addition, the men's cross country (second), men's swimming & diving (fifth) and the men's indoor track & field (fifth) teams finished their respective season's with program best placements.
In his first season on the Danforth Campus, he was responsible for all promotion and publicity of the Bears' NCAA Division III National Championship women's indoor and outdoor track and field national championship teams. Stiner also was the recipient of the 2016-17 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Grant Burger Media Award winner for the Central Region. He was one of eight award winners in Division III women's volleyball.
Stiner joined the WashU staff after spending the past two years as Associate Director of Athletic Communications at his alma mater The College at Brockport. He also had a stint as Interim Sports Information Director for five months in 2015.
During the 2015-16 academic year, Stiner was the primary contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, wrestling and baseball. He assisted in the expansion of Brockport’s social media presence through graphics, videos, highlights and live streaming helping Brockport achieve No. 1 in ESPN’s Sportcenter’s Top 10 countdown. Several of his stories received media attention on the weekly television program the “College Sports Beat” and he was instrumental in the production of a modern recruitment video.
Stiner spent a year teaching English in South Korea upon graduation from Brockport, and also served as a religion teacher for a year at his former high school Bishop Kearney. He was the head modified baseball coach and assistant coach for cross country at Bishop Kearney.
The former student assistant in the Brockport Sports Information office was also a contributor to The Stylus student newspaper and the campus radio station 89.1 FM The Point.
Stiner received college credit for his participation in the Disney College Internship Program at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. He concluded his undergraduate study with an internship in the Public Relations Department at The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. While working at the Baseball Hall of Fame he wrote for the Inside Pitch, a weekly online Hall of Fame publication.
He also worked for the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple AAA affiliate for the Minnesota Twins, as a pitch clock operator and trackman statistician.
Stiner graduated from Brockport in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with a concentration in sport management.
