Jeff Franta begins his first year as Manager of Event and Game Operations at Washington University in St. Louis.

Franta arrives on the Danforth Campus after spending the past three years at the University of Missouri. He served as Assistant Director of Event Management for two years before being promoted to Event Management Director a year ago.

While at Missouri, Franta oversaw all aspects of event management and game operations for the sports of volleyball, women’s basketball, gymnastics and baseball, in addition to overseeing guest services, gates, and seating for football and assisting with select special events and facility rentals. 

Franta also managed the Sports Park Security and Event Lead staffs as well as the undergraduate internship program. He had previously managed event operations for the soccer and softball programs, including serving as the Tournament Manager for the 2018 SEC Softball Tournament.

Prior to joining the staff at Missouri, Franta spent three years as a member of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Athletic Department. He served as the Assistant Coordinator of Game Operations and Facilities for two years, before being elevated to Coordinator of External Operation. In that role, he coordinated departmental efforts for development, marketing, promotions, on-campus and community initiatives and game operations.

While at UMSL, Franta assisted in the hosting of six NCAA Division II Regional and Super Regional Tournaments while also serving as the Instant Replay Coordinator for the 2015 and 2016 GLVC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments. 

Franta also served as a Marketing and Event Operations Intern with the St. Louis Sports Commission, and worked in event management for the United States Tennis Association on the 2014 Fed Cup and the 2014 Davis Cup.

A native of Columbia, Mo., he is a 2013 graduate of Missouri-St. Louis, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in business management, marketing and communications. Franta received his master’s degree in education with an emphasis in sport management from Missouri in 2019.
