No. 8 Women’s Golf Leads After Round One of IWU Fall Classic

Normal, Ill., Sept. 15, 2018 – The No. 8-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team fired a tournament leading 293 on day one of the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic at Ironwood Golf Course on Saturday.

Junior Samantha Haubenstock once again led the Bears with her second consecutive under-par round, as she shot a 70 for two-under par. Senior Chloe DiPetrillo joined her under-par with a 71 which has her tied for second place.

The Bears have a nine-stroke lead after round one. Grinnell is in second place with a 302, followed by No. 11 DePauw (303), Rose-Hulman (304) and No. 25 Wisconsin-Whitewater (309) to round out the top-five of 16 teams competing.  

WashU's scorecard also contained four-over par 76s from freshman Alyssa Kim and Lydia Tsai, while freshman Julia Dai shot a five-over 77. Kim and Tsai are tied for 11th place and Dai is tied for 16th.
