WashU Women’s Golf Places Fourth at Kathy Niepagen

Normal, Ill., April 15, 2018 – The No. 6-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team placed fourth of 17 teams to compete at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling, completing the two-day tournament with a 65-over par 641 (319, 322) at the Ironwood Golf Course.

Tournament host and No. 25-ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the tournament, finishing with a 629 score (309, 320). Also placing ahead of the Bears were No. 12 DePauw-639 (318, 321) and No. 15 Huntingdon-639 (314, 325).

Senior Erin Drolet led the Bears on the second round with a six-over par 78. She finished tied for ninth overall, 158 (80,78). Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock tied for sixth overall posting a two-day total of 157 (76, 81). Drolet had two birdies on Sunday.

Junior Hanna Jia posted the Bears second best score Sunday, finishing with an eight-over par 80. She also recorded two birdies during the second round, while compiling an overall 168 (88, 80).

Rounding out the Bears lineup were freshman Gigi Garcia, 164 (81, 83) and sophomore Emily Carnes, 167 (82, 85). Also competing individually from WashU were sophomore Angelica Harris, 172 (88, 84) and junior Sabrina Ho, 183 (90, 93).
