St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 10, 2018 – Washington University in St. Louis had three student-athletes honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week, as announced by the Association.
Junior Samantha Haubenstock of the No. 8-ranked women's golf team and junior Zoe Baxter and senior Julianne Malek of the No. 19 volleyball team each earned the honor.
Haubenstock recorded a personal-best 67 round at the Rhodes Classic to earn medalist honors while helping the Bears secure a first-place finish. She finished the event with seven birdies and her sub-70 round is the third of her career, the fifth in program history overall.
Baxter helped lead the volleyball team to a 5-0 record, which included two wins against Top-15 ranked programs. She totaled 99 digs in the five matches, for an average of 5.82 per set. In addition, Baxter added eight assists, two service aces and a kill and was named to the Bear Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Malek recorded 45 kills on 77 attempts for a .519 hitting percentage while helping the Bears to five wins. She also added 20 blocks (two solo), 18 digs and seven service aces and was named to the Bear Invitational All-Tournament Team.
